New Wildlife Garden

Teamwork makes the Dream Work: RoWvers and Micheldever Primary School Collaboration, June 2026.  

The Lord Rank Playing Field entrance has a new little wildlife garden, which we hope will be enjoyed by the whole village and all visitors to the playing field and southern end of the village. 

On Friday 5th June, volunteers from Years 5 & 6 at Micheldever Primary School, led by Headteacher Mr Bint, joined Lynsey Sweeney from the Micheldever Parish Rights of Way Volunteers (RoWVers) to get some much-needed weeding done and to install a new sign to welcome visitors to the new Little Wildlife Garden. 

This garden has been created and supported by many volunteers, from the initial site clearance with rotivators and heavy digging to strimming the edges, regular watering, and further weeding to allow the plants to establish. In June, a good layer of mulch and a few further plants went in, under the stewardship of Sophie Nevin Garden Design, but we will of course need to keep on top of the weeds for many moons to come! 

We're delighted that the school looks set to support more young volunteers onto the site for further weeding sessions; a great collaboration to support this new and beautiful little space for everyone to enjoy, especially the wildlife. 

Big thanks to our young volunteers, and well done choosing a great place for our new signage. 

As we welcome some of our newest and youngest volunteers, we also thank some of our more senior, retiring volunteers! Special thanks are due to Val and Martin Boulter, who have volunteered their time to the Rights of Way Volunteers for the last decade, and who were involved in the foundation of this new Little Wildlife Garden.
