St Mary’s Micheldever – Roof Repairs

We are delighted to report that, despite the recent never-ending rain, the roofing repairs to the chancel and vestry roofs of St Mary’s are now complete.

A few months ago, we were really struggling to assess how our fundraising efforts and reserves could stretch to covering the roof repairs as well as other recent expenses for major repair bills for the organ, electrical work, and central heating. Maintaining and preserving a Grade II* listed heritage building is a challenge. But then we received some wonderful news!

An application for a grant to the National Churches Trust had been successful and we had been awarded £12,000. And there was more good news to follow, in that Winchester Diocese also awarded us a grant of £1,400. The receipt of these Grants has been nothing less than transformative for St Mary’s and the community.

In addition, many people have made generous donations and supported us in other ways by attending fund raising events and buying St Mary’s Christmas cards.

From all of us at St Mary’s we would like to say a heart-felt “Thank you” to the community. Your generous donations have helped us to repair and protect St Mary’s ensuring that it remains watertight for many generations to come.
